What do you mean by "upgrade online"?  What are you trying to upgrade, the iOS?  If so, what version are you running now?

I think the question was about "iOS upgrade".

I'm trying to upgarde my iPad 2 as well, (currently: 4.3.3), but after entering my Password there is the Passcode request as well in order to process the upgrade.

Unfortunatly, weeks ago my Apple ID and the affilated email was compromised, and I think as well the Passcode. (I'm talking about the Passcode in the Setting menu>Restriction). Any time I've entered my Passcode, it isn't recognized. It fails.

The restrictred items cannot be changed, but otherwise the iPad 2 operates fine. (almost...:-))

Since I cannot Reset, Restore, etc. in my iPad Settings, I should sync with ITunes of my current iMac. (Lion)

But there are photos, that were originally transfered from another computer, that doesn't work any longer, therefore I cannot backup them (since syncing back from the iPad to my current computer doesn't work), I'll loose them all, if, I proceed the Restore.

How I can get back my Passcode? Is there an alternative, similar to: "Forget Password?"

I assume the photos you are trying to save are in the photo library album on your iPad.  If that's the case they can't be imported to your computer by usual methods (as those only import photos from your camera roll).  However, you can use the app PhotoSync to wirelessly transfer photos from any album on your iPad to your computer, including photo library photos.

If you have only forgotten your passcode, you can back it up and restore it on the last computer it was synced with to remove it.  However, if you no longer have access to this computer you'll have to force it into recovery mode to restore it, the restore from backup if you have one.  These options are covered here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1212 .

However, if you also don't know your restrictions passcode, you'll have to restore it as a new device without using your backup.  There isn't any way to reset it.  All you can do is save as much of your data as you can, such as importing photos (and using PhotoSync to save photo library photos), email copies of your notes and voice memos to yourself, write down your account settings, etc., then restore it as a new device and start over.

    Thanks for the prompt reply.

If PhotoSync won't work, 600 photos won't be possible to email...

Anyway, the wireless transfer in PhotoSync is encrypted?

I don't believe there is any encryption involved.  You just install a PhotoSync client program on your computer and the app on your iPad.  The app then asks what photos you want to send, what device you want to send them to, and then it transfers the over your wifi network.  There's a demo video on their homepage here: http://www.photosync-app.com.
