You need to contact the developer of words with friends. Also you can try to reset your phone by holding the home and off button down until the apple symbol comes up.

I had this same problem twice in a row this morning but on iOS 6.0.1. The phone's screen faded out a bit and random lines disappeared before the apple logo appeared.
Unfortunately when I tried a third time (and subsequent attempts) while recording the device it didn't crash.
I noticed that WwF updated just yesterday... it says version 5.70.
I agree with Chris that you should report this to Zynga, but any crash that is able to cause the device to kernel panic is more than just an issue with the app's code and Apple should at least be made aware of the issue.
It looks like the only place to notify them is on the Zynga player forums.

Just corroborating what UM-Errol reported. Running WwF HD on an iPad 2 running iOS 6.0.1, and got a kernel panic. Same effect visually—the iPad's screen faded, with lines appearing, and then rebooted.
I actually went to the Genius Bar earlier today because this happened a few times in the past week. I brought the device in, and the Apple Genius working with me thought the kernel panics were due to a bad chip. It was still under warranty, so he replaced the iPad 2 with one in stock. Well, I was surprised to encounter the same crash again tonight with the replacement iPad 2.
I'm only experiencing the problem with WwF. All other apps appear to be fine.

Also getting the same problem here with iOS 6.0.1 and WWF 5.70.

I reinstalled the App. Will see if that fixes it.

how were you able to reproduce the issue at genius bar? I am sure the issue is app specific but it's also random on my iPhone 5.

The same has been happening on my iphone5 ever since I got the new wwf update earlier this morning. Reinstalled the paid and free versions several times with the same crash result. The issue is widespread according to the zynga support forum for the iOS6. Reported it to apple and zynga and finally had to just take the app off altogether. Sad, I really liked that one and would love my 2.99 back.
