Jan 3, 2013 5:46 PM in response to sterralby randers4,Depends on what you want to change the ID for. To change it...
- For iMessage, go to Settings>Messages>Send & Receive, tap the ID sign out, sign back in using the other ID.
- For FaceTime, do the same thing in Settings>FaceTime.
- For Purchasing, do this in Settings>iTunes & App Stores.
- For iCloud, you'll have to delete the account, create a new account with the other ID, and migrate your data to the new account. Before deleting the account, if you have any photos in photo stream that are not in your camera roll or backed up somewhere else save these to your camera roll or you will lose them. To do this, open the photo stream album in the thumbnail view, tap Edit, tap all the photos you want to save, tap Share, then tap Save to Camera Roll. Once this is done, go to Settings>iCloud, scroll to the bottom and tap Delete Account. When prompted about what to do with the iCloud data, be sure to select Keep On My [iDevice]. Next, set up a new iCloud account using a different Apple ID (if you don't have one, tap Get a Free Apple ID at the bottom). Then turn iCloud data syncing for contacts, etc. back to On, and when prompted about merging with iCloud, choose Merge. This will upload the data to the new account.

Oct 9, 2014 5:35 AM in response to randers4by shenai,This has to do with correcting the icloud settings on my iphone 5:
When I try to delete the icloud account I cannot get past the pop ups that insist on me entering the password for my old email. I don't even use the old email anymore so I do not want to enter the old password. How can I get past this and get the new email account on the iphone. It works fine on my PC. Thanks.

Mar 11, 2016 10:13 AM in response to lhheimbachby ManSinha,A - you are tagging on to a 3 year old post
B - are you trying to remove the prior owner's ID? If so - you have to contact them and work with them - this is the activation lock and cannot be removed unless the prior owner allows it

Mar 11, 2016 10:39 AM in response to ManSinhaby lhheimbach,Yes, I knew this was an older post, but it defined my exact problem.
I changed Apple ID and thought I had signed off of icloud, itunes, etc. on my phone, but I had not. Now my iphone continues to show the old Apple ID and asks for the password. That does not work because it is no longer my valid Apple ID. I believe I need to change the apple ID on my phone so that I can use these applications.
I would appreciate steps to take to change my old Apple ID on my phone to my new Apple ID.
Thanks in advance for your help.
