VikingOSX, thanks so much for your reply. I was not aware of this option, as the App Store does not seem to always present it. I will have to look at it more closely. I am comncerned that Mouseposé is basically intended for presentations, but it may work for my day-to-day work activity.
Can it always be 'on', and function in Mail as well as in Pages (and othe word processing programs)? I often hear that the Apple cursor/arrow/line cannot be replaced or substituted.
You should pose your product specific questions to the Mouseposé developer (Boinx Software).
Before I originally responded, I investigated the ability to change the mouse pointer outside of the Accessibility preferences. Although there is a command-line defaults syntax to change the pointer size, it too references the accessibility preference file. I saw no way to change cursor shape or color.
VikingOSX, many thanks again. Coming from the PC/Windows world, in which I recall some pointer options (which may not be what I'd like now), I am looking around to see if Apple Mac or some related/integratable application can offer options of the sort that you (and I) have mentioned. I'll keep on looking - although my eyes may fail me before then! Looking online and elsewhere, this seems an element or component that Apple has not (cannot? does not feel the need to) address at present.
