    Rustyintegrale...

You are the man.  Using Pacifist, I was able to replace that infernal software with its older, working brother.  I'd unfortunately already angrily trashed pretty much everything related to iTunes that I could, and in getting the errors I kept seeing, I defaulted to this forum and luckily, your knowledge where Apple wouldn't and couldn't help.  I've effectively clicked Like on every post you've listed here.

My faith in this company has, in the past few years, been on the rapid decline.  Thanks to you, I'm able to enjoy my music without having to sort through the "Up Next" crap and a view that just automatically gave me headaches to look at.  And WOW, how much smoother and faster 10.7 runs than 11 ever could hope to...

Apple, you basically crapped on the cardinal rule with upgrades and replacements. "If it ain't broke, don't fix it."  The only way I can feasibly describe my thoughts of iTunes 11, is this:

"Apple's developers opened the beautiful leather bag that was iTunes 10, took a huge dump into it, then closed it up, slapped a new logo on it, and called it an improvement.  Congrats guys, you ruined a good thing.  In essence, you Microsofted it."

That's a really good point! If crapple cares this little about their customer base why should i bother with them in the future?

The same reason you all started using apple in the first place ; they make exceedingly good computers.

If people aren't happy they should write to apple directly, not vent in here. Rustyintegrale has posted a direct link on page 64 of this thread.   Use it to go back to 10.7

Failing that,  there are plenty of non-free music players out there too.

I wouldn't say "exceedingly". It's prone to overheating if you want to do anything intense with it.

While I can get a free media player, i shouldn't have to bother. This is a problem no one needed but Apple created. Is there a free app that replaces front row?

I was miffed myself when Front Row dissappeared.  I bought my first Mac to edit video with and it has done that very well ever since.  In the last few years Apple has made decisions that I don't like (Final Cut X being the biggest one) but we the consumer ultimately make the choice.  As a pro user I fear the loss of the Mac Pro and even now fear the loss of the Macbook Pro as a 'useful tool' (with the new retina model there are few and fewer ways to manipulate it).

I still say they are exceedingly good.  I had my G4 as my main computer for over six years and it never failed me. They are heading down the mass consumer route though and that will ultimately be their downfall.

I wrote to Apple about Front Row, the loss of the hand tool in Preview, and now itunes 11.  Certainly with the first two I imagine I was in the minority.  Probably I will be in the latter too so maybe don't expect any changes.

iPad, iPhone, and iOS is now Apple future....and yours!

iTunes11 is simply thrown together yuck!

Take away the great and give use mediocre........Really!

    I agree.

Furthermore, I think the venting here is getting to be semi-hysterical. If Apple people were reading this thread, they might not take it seriously because there isn't enough constructive criticism, just a lot of venting (and some of that venting is a matter of users not bothering to learn the new features).

I'm using both 10.7 and 11.0.1 daily on two different computers, and I don't find 11 to be that bad. If iTunes 10 is an eight on a scale of ten, then iTunes 11 is a seven. One step forward, two steps backwards. A FAIL in terms of making the UI simpler and more intuitive. But not that terrible.

Weirdly for me, almost all mainstream reviewers have praised it, and several of my Facebook friends felt strongly that it was the best iTunes yet. A big success. I'm completely confused as to why the reviews were so positive.

On the bright side, iTunes is free and you haven't shelled out any money for 11.

Terrible iteration, absolutely hate it. Why on earth has what used to be a pretty easy application to use become so counter-intuitive and ugly? If I could wind back to the previous version I would, and not update!

Plex and XBMC are some free alternatives. They work best if you move the media out from the iTunes library, but you can view shared iTunes libraries.

Or you can buy an AppleTV like Apple expect you to (despite playing fewer codecs & being less useful than Front Row). Personally I'd get a Roku or Boxee Box instead, or use F.R. on 10.6.8 on a Mac.

Well, at this point I'm still mulling over downgrading back to the previous version. Until then, I have approximated the old functionality by making the window as small as possible, dragging it down to my lower right corner, then using the familiar green maximizer button to click between views. It is 30% wider than I'd like, but it will have to do until they return the few pixels it would need to make the miniplayer awesome again...

If there was an app that was powerful, that had the features I need... coverflow, good search capabilities, sycnch with iPod and iPhone... alll that, I would gladly pay any fair price for it.

But, is it really free??? I don't even want to know how much I have spent on hardware over the past ten years or so... iPods, iPhones, iPad, iMacs, MacBook Pros... for me and my four kids, my mom even...and the thing that brought me to apple as a loyal and repeat customer... was iTunes... Those products, for me, are there because of iTunes... the software, the apps, the music, movies and TV shows... Without iTunes, none of that happens...

They got me hooked and now, well... ?????

    Any software developers listening????

    :-)
