How do I upgrade to latest OS?

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.5.8)

    To determine what the latest version for your computer is, please go to the Apple menu in the upper left of your screen, and then click on About this Mac. Click on More Info. Paste or screenshot that info here, omitting the serial number.

    A Mac OS X 10.6 DVD is needed to get to either 10.6.8, 10.7.5, or 10.8.2, which are the three possible maximum OSes for a specific MacBook Pro. Since you're using a MacBookPro5,2 with 4GB RAM, the next steps after installing the DVD are to run Software Update and buy Mountain Lion from the Mac App Store.
