Is this only with images that were on the CF card, and does this MBP have a slot for SD cards?
Is the Aperture library on this external LaCie drive, or only referenced originals? Is this drive formatted as OS X Extended?
Do you have a CF card reader to test with, rather than the camera connected?
Thanks Ernie! The images would not load from the camera with the USB camera supplied cable. Yes, the MBP has slot for the SD card and it downloads the images.
The Aperture library is on the LaCie external HD. Don't know if the drive is formatted as OS X extended.
After posting the entry, I went to the local Staples store and purchased a Verbatium card reader and lo and behold, the world is fine. The Aperture has returned and I was able to download all the CF card images. The card reader would not read the SD card despite having it listed as one of the cards it's able to read. Don't know what's happening here but at least I can use the MBP slot.
To me, it's strange! It was all looking quite grim! Thank you for your assistance!
First of all, I think there can be risk connecting the camera vs a reader anytime, but especially with a camera with two cards and both in the camera at the time of connection. My D800 has both a CF and SD slot, but I always remove first one and then the other when reformatting. I only read them with card readers.
I would now, if backed up to satisfaction, reformat both cards, and test each again in the card reader.
Thanks for the additional advice. I will reformat both cards now that I have the images. My images and photography, mean a tremendous amount to me. I do like Aperture very much as it is so easy to use and does have a good range of editing features. Glad you are willing to help so many people! Thank you!
