Just got my flaming new Fender USB Strat!!  I plugged it to my iPad and tested some garageband amps...However live monitoring only works when I plug in my headphones and there´s no sound output on the speaker. I googled it and only found that I could swithc off the mono output on settings or disable mic speaker crosstalk. Is there a way to hear what you are playing with the guitar on the speakers?

iPad, iOS 5.1.1

I am wondering the same thing.  I got a Fender USB Strat for Christmas and have a JVC Kaboom box I can use as an Amp/Speaker.  It sounds great but only for straight up sound. I was hoping to pipe the guitar through the iPad to take advantage of all the GarageBand amps and stomp boxes but no luck so far.

Haven't given up yet, but hopes are fading.

My guess is that it doesn't come out of the iPhone/iPad speakers becuase the special cable that Fender ships with the guitar is a special 2-way USB, that is designed to send the audio back down the cable to the guitar headphone pre-amp. Plugging in headphones seems to override this, so you can always go out to a stereo/computer speakers/amp with a 1/8" stereo cable and listen that way.

I don't have one handy to test, but a way to test my theory is to substiture the USB/iOS cable that came with the guitar with a standard USB/iOS cable, which you should be able to find on Amazon for cheap. If that makes the audio come out of the device speakers, please let us know!
