Because it doesn't meet the techncal requirements - i.e the processor isn't up to it - but as you don't tell us what the specs are, we can only guess.

The message thats coming up when I attempt to install Mountain Lion, says that 'We could not complete your purchase. OS X Mountain Lion is not compatible with this computer.'

I read this, it also stated underneath..
Your Mac needs:
- OS X v10.6.8 or OS X Lion already installed
- 2 GB or more of memory
- 8 GB or more of available space
I have OS X v10.6.8 Snow Leopard already
Do you think if I downloaded Lion that, that would help me?
