Q: color fx adjust not being sent back to FC

I am completely new to Apple's color grading software 'Color'. I'm just starting to learn from the Apple Pro Training Series book. I'm having a problem that I just cannot figure out at this point. I am doing a simple Curves adjustment in the Color FX room, adding an output node and then rendering. When I send the footage back to Final Cut Pro, the curves adjustment is NOT showing up in the footage? I am beyond baffled and frustrated.

Here is a picture of my timeline in the Color project. Maybe that will offer some clues.

When you render a grade in Color, it creates a new set of clips which are written to the Render Directory location specified in the Project Settings tab of the Set Up Room. Every grade project uses the same clip labeling notation except the project name folder, so this can be a recipe for disaster if you're not careful.

In order to achieve a "render" in the FCP context, you need to use the "Send to FCP" option from the File menu. This will build a duplicate of the source sequence and conform the new grade, naming it the same as the source sequence plus a "(from Color)" annotation.

Color is an app that pretty much requires that you read at least some of the user manual...  give it a try.

Thanks. I'll see what I can figure out.

You might also give a try reading my initial post. That line that states "I'm just starting to learn from the Apple Pro Training Series book" indicates that I am in the process of reading the manual and doing the lessons.

    I read it all...

Apple Pro Training Series is fine and all, but you'll get specific answers faster in the User Manual.

I'll make a note and be sure not to irritate you with any further answers.

While you're at it, put another notch in your 'keyboard warrior' belt.
