Hi all,

I recently deleted a number of events in error. I thought that rather than put them all back in manually I would restore the calendar from a few hours ago using the Time Machine. Went into time machine but couldn't find any ical calendar files to restore. In reading the manual it appears that I would have had to have made a special backup file and then used that. If this is true then I guess to make it useful I would have to manually back up ical everyday. Is this so? Can't you use Time Machine without the special file being made?

Thanks,

Julian

    Julian,

According to Roger Wilmut, "The iCloud Calendar  and Time Machine don't play nice together."

Restoring iCloud calendars from Time Machine explains his method of solving the problem.

Manually backing up every day is another option.

    Julian,

Since you are not using iCloud, you should be able to restore from a Calendar Time Machine backup.

The correct file to replace is the "Calendars" Folder. The "Calendars" folder is located in the Macintosh HD/Users/yourusername/Library Folder.

Since that Library folder is normally hidden in Moutain Lion you open it by going to Finder, click on "Go," and depress the "option" key to reveal the "Library" folder that contains the "Calendars" folder.

Quit Calendar, make sure that the "Library" window is open, enter Time Machine and restore from the desired time line.
