My iPhone has a 'no longer  inuse' number keep flashing up when entering a new text message to the recipient. I Can't get rid of it? It is no longer  in my contact list in any of my other apple devices. When I wish to start a brand new  text to this person the list of numbers and email addresses appear. This old number should not be in the list as it has been deleted. She has a new number now. I  amended her contact details to add the new number and dispose of the old one. It is awfully confusing when say I am in a rush and want to send her a message quick. I have in the past hit the old number then wondered why she has never recieved my texts. How do I get it out of my phone memory. I have factory re- set my phone and also fully deleted her contact details then manually re installed them. Can anyone help please?

iPhone 4S, iOS 6.0.1
