Hi guys,

I have added a good number of loops and it brings up a couple questions.

1. I use Garaband 11. Is there a way when GarageBand 12 comes out to upgrade to 12 and be able to transfer everything i've done in 11 and put them into 12?

2. Is there a way that is built into GarageBand to backup all the songs, loops etc that you have added to GarageBand?

Any thoughts would be appreciated,

Harry

    there would likely be nothing to do on your part, newer versions of GB have always referenced the same loops and projects available/created with previous versions

    not built-in to GB, but Time Machine is the standard Apple tool for making backups

    Hi HangTime,

    Let me take another run at this.  I've not used Time Machine and when I try it looks for some WiFi something or other that it can't find.  I guess what I'd like to know is "where are loops stored" and "How do I back it up"?  If I backup the GarageBand application will that do it?

    After adding 1800 loops with more to come I don't like the thought of losing all of that work for lack of a backup.  And I do not want to backup the entire harddrive, just my GarageBand Loops!

    Thanks for your help,

    i would strongly suggest you get some help getting Time Machine to work. certainly there's other important data on your hard drive that would be catastrophic to lose in a hard drive failure (and hard drives fail, it's not an "if", it's only a when)... for instance our GB projects themselves.

    however, the other obvious solution is to burn them to a DVD-R

    Hello again HangTime,

    I can only plead ignorance!  I do a search on Library as in

    (Library/Application Support/GarageBand/Apple Loops/}

    The only thing I find in the Library file is "Font Collection".

    And when I try to set up Time Capsule I get "AirPort Utility was unable to find any AirPort wireless devices". Why it wants a wireless device I have no idea but does not want to work without it and if its to store my information on the internet I have no interest in it!  Someone told me about "Smart Backup", do you know that product by any chance?
