Q: Use of USB splitter with Airport Extreme

Can I use a USB splitter on the Airport Extreme?  It has only one USB port which is being used with my printer.  I would like to add an external hard drive and possibly speakers.  Thank you,

Yes, but this only adds additional ports; no device which wouldn't work when connected directly to its USB port will work when connected through an USB hub. Its USB port only supports printers, and on newer models, external drives.

    Niel,

Just to clarify and confirm.  What you are saying is that any device that does not work when connected directly to its USB port (no-hun connection) will not work when connected through an USB hub?  I am assuming this is the case.  So the Airport Extreme's USB port only supports printers and external drives on new models.  So it does not support speakers or other equipment?

Sorry for the confusion, just clarifying.  I am not an Ace on this topic.

Thank you in advance for your support.
