Q: Add hyperlink to Notes app?

Does the Mountain Lion notes app allow you to add hyperlinks like you could back in Snow Leopard 10.6.8/when notes was part of the mail app?  Thanks for any insight!

Just copy and paste. Say in Safari right click the link

Thanks.  What if you want to imbed the link in text so if you click on that text it takes you to that link?

The mcl823 in the note above is an active link. If you turn on Edit->Substitutions->Smart Links if you type in something like http://www.apple.com it will be made an active link and you can even open the link in the note (right click and select open link)

But I haven;'t found a way to enter plain text and turn that text into a link.

You can also drag images and links into the note

I remember the feature from the old Notes (in mail) that allowed you to right click and add hyperlink to existing text.  I wish it was that easy.  Anyways, thanks for your time.

Unusually for Apple, this isn't intuitive, but it's possible to have your text serve as a hyperlink to a webpage.  Drag the URL from your browser to where you want it on your Notes page, where it will appear as an active hyperlink.  Highlight it and type over it with your text.  Only the first letter of your text will retain the hyperlink, but not the rest.

It's unfortunate that the hyperlink can be applied to only the first letter and not to a whole phrase, because it's easy not to notice the brown colour of the single-character hyperlink against the yellow of the page, but it's better than nothing.

    I hope that helps.

The only way I can do this & retain my own text for the hyperlink is to create the link in TextEdit:

Type the text you want in TextEdit

Select the text you have typed

Press Cmd-K to create a hyperlink & paste the URL into the box

Once you have done this you can drag the link from TextEdit to the Notes app & you have a working link

If you want to change the colour of the link from brown to something more pleasing right click the link in Notes then select Font|Show Colors & pick any colour you want from the picker.

Hope that makes sense for you, maybe a bit long winded but I get what I want

i found a way, as i have a problem that clicking a URL doesn't make it open in Safari.

i now type in my URL with full http://...

then its a URL with underlining, doesn't open on click though...

so, oddly, i have to CTRL click the link, go to Services, and open URL

i have no idea why this works and simply clicking it doesn't...

That's what I've been doing, and it's really frustrating (not to mention a waste of time) that I have to use multiple editors to achieve these mundane tasks. I use Notes because it syncs across my IOS devices and I love the sidebar, but in what reality do you remove features and call it an "upgrade"? With the Mac Experience based on simplicity and ease of use, it's really sad that I still need MS Word, BBEdit, EverNote & Pages just to format some words.

Eventually, they'll merge Notes & TextEdit into one, and market it as a some revolutionary magical super-app. And because it probably won't work on older devices, you'll have to take a trip to the Apple Store and buy some new hardware. A few years back, it seemed technology was advancing at breakneck speeds but now it's evolving so slooooooooow, I feel like I'm living in the stone age. I had such high hopes for the future...

    3. Jetzt Rechtsklick auf den Link und "Edit Link" auswählen

         Screen Shot 2016-09-22 at 16.05.20.png
