I have an iPad mini and for the most part it is working just fine.   I have good internet connection throughout the house and have had no issues downloading apps, email or browsing.    One issue I am seeing is that it drops off of the iTunes on my iMac.   This has happened several times when I was trying to wirelessly synch it, only to see it drop off.    We also own an iPhone 4 and an iPad 2- both appear on iTunes and have not had an issue with them dropping off.

Is this a know issue with the iPad mini?   Is there something I need to fix on the mini to set it up right?

Thanks,

Mark

Here's the troubleshooting article for this issue:

iOS: Device not recognized in iTunes for Mac OS X

Thank you for the response.   I have not had an issue with the usb cable connected.   It is only with the iPad synching in wireless mode.    The troubleshooting seemed to focus on a usb connection.  My iMac is at 10.7.5- so that is ok.   My iTunes is 11.0.1- believe that is the latest also.   The Mac had been recently restarted.   So- I am wondering if there is something with the iPad when it is in "sleep mode"?

I will restart my iPad- that has worked in the past with our iPad 2.   But- why is this happening?  It kind of defeats the purpose of being able to wirelessly synch, if I have to grab the iPad and restart it first.    May as well plug in the usb and do it that way.   Let me know if there is something I can set so it does not happen again.

    Thanks,

    Mark

    From the iPad User Manual:

When Wi-Fi syncing is turned on, iPad automatically syncs every day. iPad must be connected to a power source, both iPad and your computer must be on the same wireless network, and iTunes must be open on the computer.

Is your iPad plugged in when you're trying to sync wirelessly?

Thanks for the response.   You guessed right- the iPad was not plugged in to charge.   But, even plugged in it did not show up in the iTune devices list, or it dropped off if I selected it.   I did try a couple of things.

1-  I power-cycled the iPad.   That seemed to help as it was showing up in the device choices list.   The iTunes pages were also updated more quickly and I was able to move apps around without an issue.

2-  I moved the iPad closer to the wireless router.   It was downstairs- but I moved it up next to my router (and iMac).   That also seemed to allow it to work fine.   BTW- it was not connected to power but I was able to do any synching I wanted.

3-  I closed out all the open apps.   I went to the Apple store and asked for some help with another issue (had issue closing tabs out in safari) and they reminded me that I should close out open apps periodically.   It appeared that almost ALL of my apps were open when I went in.   They shut them all down and that resolved my tab-closing issue and the iPad seemed to be much more responsive.

I cannot say any one item worked, but it does seem to be working great now.   Thanks for your help.

I actually think the troubleshooting article was the most help- clicked the wrong one.  But- you got credit either way:)   Thanks.

    Glad it's working.

It has been my impression that the exact time the WiFi sync will occur is hard to determine.  You can, however, force the WiFi sync to occur "now" if your iPad is plugged in and your computer is powered on and they're on the same network by doing:

Settings > General > iTunes WiFi Sync > Sync Now
