How do I update my iphone 4 with the lastest software 6.0.2?  I cannot find the download in App Store.  Also, how do I backup my phone before installing?

The iOS 6.0.2 update is a bugfix not applicable to your device; not being given the chance to install it doesn't mean your device won't be able to use future iOS updates.

    Turn on your computer

open itunes.  make sure you have the latest itunes.

    Connect your iphone

It should prompt you to update

You don't get iOS updates from the App store, you go through iTunes or you do an over-the-air update (if you're on iOS 5 or later).  As noted above, the latest iOS for your phone is 6.0.1.

If you do the iOS update through iTunes, the process starts by asking you if you want to do a backup first.  Say yes.

You should be syncing your iphone to your computer regularly and importing your pics, transferring your purchases, etc.

You need to make sure that everything is on your computer before any update
