So yesterday night I left my MBP 17 on for downloading but I somehow plugged out the power cord so the battery went down to 0% and turned off.

Today morning I plugged it back and now it says charging but....

- it says 18hours and 40 minutes till full

- the whole OS is sluggish, and i checked in activity monitor the CPU is at its 100%. and i cant find which process did use my CPU.

MacBook Pro (17-inch Late 2011), Mac OS X (10.7.4)

If you select "All Processes" and click on the %CPU column in Activity Monitor, it will tell you which process is hammering the CPU.

It is probably Spotlight (mdworker) - reindexing your had drive.

Are you running Lion (10.7.4, as your profile indicates) or Mountain Lion?

Regardless, if you let your battery completely drain, it can take up to 2.5 hours or more to fully recharge (if you've an ongoing download, you should be connected to mains and should set your Energy Saver preferences to Sleep>Never). I would just monitor the battery and make sure that it gets to a fully charged state. You may even want to download and run coconutBattery to monitor exactly what's going on with your battery.

As to why you're CPU is bumping to 100%, I don't know. If you sort your processes by CPU % in Activity Monitor, do you see one or more 'runaway' processes? If so, try to quit those processes.

    Good luck,
