Jan 11, 2013 12:05 AM in response to Rajchenkoby Ian R. Brown,★HelpfulI have no experience using such an old app with ML.
What might work is to create a separate partition on your Mac's HD using Disk Utility.
You can then install Snow Leopard on that partition, followed by FCP and use your iMac in dual-boot mode.
This tutorial shows how to do it.
Although it is talking about Lion, the process is exactly the same with ML.

Jan 11, 2013 2:39 AM in response to Ian R. Brownby Rajchenko,Thank you for the advise - I know it's ancient software but is the only way to open old projects as FCP X is infact a totally new app that doesn't directly update the files.
I may have the original download to 5.1.4 on disc, which might work and although you present a good workaround - as I don't plan using the older version of FCP other than for legacy purposes, I might be better off creating xml files from FCP running on my G4. Although, it would be nice not to have to do that.
Cheers
