Michael, thanks for the reply. How do I sign out of the iTunes Store on the iPad? I closed the app and re-opened but I don't think that is what you meant. I know how to sign out on the pc but do not see a place to do so on the iPad.

Ok, I figured out how to sign out of the iTunes Store in two places. So I signed out and then back in from withing the iTunes setting and also from the iTunes app. Unfortunately, the issue was not solved. Any ideas from the Apple folks?

Another sufferer here. I picked up a new iPad (3rd Gen) 64GB Wi-fi yesterday. After updating to iOS 6.0.1, I restored my back-up from my iPad 2 32GB Wi-fi (6.0.1) and reloaded my apps. I noticed this morning that although all my music shows up, my playlists aren't showing up. My album art was missing for most of the day, but it finally appeared this afternoon. I've tried the usual fixes, turning Match off and on, signing out of the iTunes store, etc. No joy.
You can log out of the iTunes store on the iPad (iOS 6.x) by selecting "iTunes & App Stores" in the left pane and then tapping on your Apple ID at the top of the right pane.
But it hasn't helped me yet.
