I am using Macbook Pro 13" (late 2011 model). I am experiencing slower MAC. Many times it hangs when i switch from one application to another. Then i have to do a hard power off (by pushing and holding the power button). This happens even when i am just using 2 or 3 applications like mail, safari etc.

I think this problem due to limited RAM. So I want to upgrade RAM from 4 GB to 8 GB or 16 GB. I checked there is a single 8 GB 10600 DDR3 RAM available in the market. Can i use it in of the slot to upgrade it to 8 GB. Also can i put in 2 8GB RAM (one in each slot) to make is 16 GB?

What are the pros n cons of upgrading RAM to above mentioned level
