Somehow I suspect your question doesn't actually cover your needs, but the literal answer to your question:
1) Install Mac OS X (or Mac OS X Server)
2) Drop your HTML files into the web server document root (typically /Library/WebServer/Documents, but it does vary in OS versions)
3) Start Apache (either via System Preferences -> Sharing (Mac OS X) or Server.app (Mac OS X Server)
Thanks again. Sorry for the hard return after each word on my last post, that's what happens when I use a Droid Smartphone. I really dont know why I never used the apple community discussions before. So far it has been a great help and I always find what I need up here. I am sure I will have more questions because I am going to clear out the MBPro today and install Leopard Server software. I am very psyched to do this, I feel like I did when I got my first Commodore 64. I guess that's why I make my living thanks to the Mac. I do heavy duty print and production design as well as graphic design. I just have never done a web page because I worked in-house for several companies for many years doing all theit packaging and brochures and etc... I have CS5 design premium so I do have everything I need, but it is time to expand on my skill set to basic web stuff. I really need to get my portfolio online. I am tired of sending pdf samples. Ever since I left NY/NJ I have been doing strictly freelance. So I get clients that do need web stuff and I usually sub it out. So here will begin my journey.
