Hi Everyone,

I created my website (www.uponmyword.co.uk) in iweb a while ago and it is not showing up in search engine searches.  A techie friend of mine said I needed to add meta tags but I have no idea how to do this.  I've read a lot of old forums but found that all the comments were either unhelpful or far above my head.  Any advice on how to add meta tags would be fantastic.

Thank you,

Your techie friend should know that meta tags are not much used nowadays since Google ignores them.

What you do need to add is the Title tag and a meta description for each page...

You don't have to know anything about iWeb because you cannot add meta code in it.

You have to edit the published pages.

And instead of adding the meta words to the code , type the words on the page for your visitors to see.

    Make your page INTERESTING.

And Google wants to know one thing : does your website add value?

    Magic word : advertise.

Negative comments about iWeb SEO Tool are usually from those that can't follow simple instructions.

It saves a lot of time c/w opening each HTML file and adding the tags very time you publish changes to your site.

You said your site doesn't show insearch engines?

    It does at Google :

    http://www.google.com/search?q=site:www.uponmyword.co.uk

And this is the other way around :

    http://www.google.com/search?q=host:www.uponmyword.co.uk

It appears that Upon My Word is not really unique :

Perhaps Google thinks you're not important enough to be 1st place in the results.

    Search and read :

Write some interesting text for your Home page and incorporate the keywords that you want to come up in a search.

The main keywords should also be in the meta description for each page.

You should also consider uploading a sitemap and entering it into Google.
