My partner is trying to use his iPad, but he is receiving the following message:

"iCloud Backup.

This ipad has not been backed up in two weeks. Backups happen when this iPad is plugged in, locked, and connected to WiFi."

This message cannot be dismissed. The message includes an "OK" button, but clicking on it does nothing. Furthermore, the iPad will not shut down. I can bring up the slider to do so, but it will not slide, therefore, it will not reboot.

We did plug the iPad into his PC in hopes that this would solve whatever is wrong. The PC does detect the iPad and iTunes does launch itself, but it comes up with the following message:

"iTunes has stopped working

A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available."

When we select the "Close Program" button, iTunes closes, but nothing else happens.

When I unplugged the iPad from the PC and then opened iTunes, iTunes opened successfully.

I don't know if the iPad is locked. How do you lock it? Anyway, we can't do anything with the iPad at the moment other than what is purely physical.

The iPad's screen does show the symbol that indicates that the iPad is connected to our WiFi network.

The backup has not occurred in two weeks because we have been out of WiFi range for two weeks. It was working until two days ago and my partner can think of nothing that he has done out of the ordinary. He says that he did not play with settings.

Any ideas as to how we can get his iPad working once again?
