Q: Contract of 3 years with bell honored, iphone paid in full, now error 1015!!! WT...???

Bought a new phone, so gave my old iphone 3g to my son. Since he is with a different carrier, Telus (i was with bell, contract honored, phone paid in full) I had to unblock it for him to be able to use it. I went to a mall, and had it unblock in a shop. Now error 1015!!! After reading other posts related to this issue, I am trying to understand but really don"t: So paid the phone (over the 3 years contract!!!!!), but can"t do what I want with it??? Is it still Bell"s property???? Is that legal? What can I do? Even if I kept it let"s say, and went abroad, I"d still need it to be unblock (GSM) for me to use it!

Can Anyone tell me something about this problem? And who should I contact? Bell???

Thanks a lot!

That's what you get for hacking the phone.

Oh that really helped! Thanks but no thanks! And in case you didn't notice it, that was my question...

But maybe you didn't know what to answer... well, don't say anything!

    Thank you in advance.

Once your iPhone was hacked either by you or somebody else doesn't really matter, you lost the option of getting help here or with Apple. The Terms of Use in this forum forbids us helping you.

If you had your phone with Bell and you finished your contract, then you should have taken your phone to Bell to get them to officially unlock it for you.  Nobody else can unlock your phone officially but your phone company/carrier.

Because you took your phone to the mall to get it unlocked, this is not official and at the mall, they jailbroke your phone to unlock it, which is why you now have this error and these problems.

Basically, there is nothing that you can do at all.  Because your phone has been jailbroken, your warranty has been voided and I very much doubt that Bell will help you.

There is nothing that you can now do and you have an unusable brick.

Learn from this and don't ever jailbreak your phone again and remember that if you ever want to get a phone unlocked, then you need to do it officially via your phone comapny/carrier - they are the only ones that can do this for you and not some joker down at the mall!

Thank you sooo much Ethmoid!  I finally understand the whole thing.

I thought that the phone being mine I could do anything I want with it... That may sound silly for people who know that stuff, but for those that don't understand in tech and how these things work. And I guess forums like this one are supposed to help understand, not just keep the person out like that (or aren't they ckuan?)

Thanks again Ethmoid, now that i know and understand, I will not do it anymore.
