Sorry to start the 5000th thread about TS4088 and intermittent black screen errors. I have a mid-2010 MBP with all the symptoms. Originally happened with Snow Leopard. Did a clean install of Mountain Lion but the same problems persist so it is not any conflicting software or drivers. Convinced it is the graphics card (GeForce 330T) / logic board as per my panic reports. Tried gfxCardStatus but didn't help.

My issue is I took it into the Apple Store twice but cannot reproduce the error on the spot. They did some in-store testing but 'did not find anything wrong'. They are barely acknowledging TS4088 and claim my MPB is in perfect shape despite showing them pages upon pages of panic reports. I'm guessing several of you have been through the same circus act. If you have any suggestions on how to proceed, please let me know. The only option they are giving me is to pay $50 to send it out for 'further examination' and a flat rate of $300 for any repairs if needed.

Thanks in advance.

The trick for me was to ask them to look at TS4088. According to the "tier two guide" that the genius guys have access to, they prescribe another test specifically for this issue (and it's actually called TS4088 test). My laptop passed AHT but failed after a minute with the special test, and the message clearly said "replace MLB" which I assume means logic board.
