Jan 15, 2013 5:35 AM in response to omar.mby Kilgore-Trout,★HelpfulNo, you can't simply copy them onto to the iPad, youwill need to add them to your itunes library and synch them. You will also need to be aware of the supported video formats supported: http://www.apple.com/ipad/specs/

Jan 15, 2013 5:41 AM in response to Kilgore-Troutby omar.m,thanks for the reply james - saved me a lot of wasted time trying
copy them to itunes and then synching??
so if i hvae a file the size of 800mb, i upload to itunes and then have to wait to download on my ipad??
that *****
why put such a big obstacle in the way?
i assume it's a simple process of putting onto a memory card or just copying files accross for android tablets?
this one has to go one my list of 'not likes' list for my ipad

Jan 15, 2013 5:45 AM in response to omar.mby Kilgore-Trout,I have no idea what the process is for an Android device, nor do I care.
Synching has ALWAYS been the method of moving content onto an iOS device, or downloading via the itunes store or app store. It is a basic characteristic of iOS and one of the reason it will not get the kinds of malware that are endemic to an Android device

Jan 15, 2013 5:50 AM in response to Kilgore-Troutby omar.m,>> nor do I care
no, i think u should care
if the rest of the world can do something in 2 minutes (copying 800mb file) and it takes you a few hours to convert a files, 60 minutes to upload and then 15 minutes to download, then i think you should care
ok, so if you're not interested in copying movies to watch on the ipad - yes, you don't need to care
>> ... malware that are endemic to an Android device
yes, absolutely. that's why we all love apple
but, a movie file is a movie file. you can't get anything bad from just playing a movie file

Jan 15, 2013 6:00 AM in response to omar.mby Lily Hanger,★Helpfulalso you can use a iPad transfer software http://www.movies-to-ipad.com/ipad-transfer.html#ipadtransfer, but not free, just transfer movies to iPad, also support other apple poducts , you know, iTunes is free.

Jan 15, 2013 6:03 AM in response to Lily Hangerby omar.m,Lily, that's great - and alot better than transferring 800mb using the conventional method
But... I still say it's crazy that we have to do this

Jul 20, 2013 11:19 AM in response to omar.mby Geoffrey Ellis,You don't have to import into iTunes. Just go to iTunes preferences menu, select the Advanced tab, then deselect 'Copy files to iTunes Media folder whe adding to library'. You can then copy to iPad. Job done!

Nov 1, 2013 6:40 AM in response to omar.mby timrichardson,Install VLC from App Store (on your ipad). VLC is a famous movie player, but it is exceptionally cool on the ipad because it will play from Dropbox AND you can drag and drop movie files directly into VLC with its built in upload server.
To use The vlc app wifi server function. Turn it on from the menu inside the VLc app. It gives you an address on your wifi network (so this only works when your computer and ipad are on the same network). The address will look something like http://198.168.1.1
On your PC, Mac or Linux box, open a web browser at that address. You'll see the vlc upload screen. Drag your video file onto the screen. It will then do a wifi transfer to your ipad. This is a fast and free way to solve the problem.

Nov 2, 2013 12:53 PM in response to omar.mby visualpilot,I use VLC Streamer app for ipad.
it's free ;-)
just stream from any computer in the network (corresponding app (free) on computer needs to be installed).
With paid ipad VLC Streamer ( € 2.- ) version you can copy files to your ipad over the network.
Works fine.

Nov 19, 2013 1:03 PM in response to timrichardsonby vitamindimo,Thanks Tim! This is much easier than the convert to MK4 then sync with iTunes approach. FYI all I needed was the VLC app (not the Remote or Stremer apps) and used the WiFi Upload feature as Tim described to get a .AVI onto the iPad in 10 seconds. Just converting the file to MK4 takes several minutes, glad I dont have to do that anymore!

Mar 4, 2014 5:24 PM in response to omar.mby AbleZhang,As we know, put music, videos, movies to apple devices, you must need the help of iTunes. If you want to import your DVD movies to the iPad, the only way is convert these DVDs to the supported format of iTunes.
