Let it run at least another 24 hr. What you are experiencing is not abnormal. IME, it will finish. Force-quitting will make things worse.

Thanks, Kirby. I will take your advice and let it run. I'll check back in with an update in 24.

Prediction: at some point, when you are not looking, it will be done.
*Close Aperture once it finishes!* This makes sure all the changes are written back before anything goes wrong again. Then back it up (another multi-hour task). Then try it out and see if it works well. Be sure to check for the "Recovered" Folder.

Will do. I keep running down in the morning like it's Christmas day to see if it's done. Fortunately my backups are in the form of cloning runs on two separate drives, so they go pretty quickly.

The last time I repaired my library I waited about 53 hours for the job to finish. This process takes time and enormous patience.

Success after nearly three days! My bloated Library is back up and running. Thanks to those who preached patience.

So for our statistics:
"My Library is fairly large (2.98 TB on a 4 TB internal HDD)"
will need three days - 1 TB per day - congratulations for your patience!

I have taken the advice above (thanks for taking the time to answer our questions). Unfortunately, the "Repairing Library: 100% complete" is still showing after 48 hours, as is "Opening Aperture Library". I would have thought I should just wait a little longer, however upon viewing Activity Monitor - CPU, I have noticed that Aperture, under Process Name, shows "Aperture (Not Responding)". Should I still hold out and wait? I have touched my external hard drive (G Tech) and it is still spinning. Any advice is welcome. Thanks again...

Sorry for the delay in responding; I have been on vacation for a bit.
Did this resolve, or are you still stuck?
