I have a number of saved .band files that for some reason cannot see MIDI (software instrument) loops (the green ones). Some files see all of them and some don't. I can not figure out what the difference is or how to correct the problem. I have reinstalled Garageband 11 from app store.

Mac OS X (10.4.5), also have Win pcs

What do you mean by "see"? Does GB say the loops are missing? Are they missing in your Loop Browser?

You may have set filters on your loop browser, that prevent the loops from showing.

    • The pop-up meu at the top oof the Loop Browser should be set to "Show All", and not to the name of a JamPack or "My Loops". Otherwise you will see only a subset of your loops.
    • If the signature of your project is not 4/4 you may not see many loops.
    • Disable "Filter for more relevant results" in the Preferences "Loops" pane.

However, # 2 seems to be what was happening. This explains why it was only some files. Was this an "enhancement" or "improvement" in an upgrade or patch?

since version 1, changing the time signature restricted loops displayed to that time signature:

Sorry, but I still don't understand. Is this about the loops showing up in the browser or about loops that you used in an old project? In the latter case - if the loop still exists on your computer, it should be in the song, no matter whether it's in the browser's list or not. So please look for the loop in the acutal Loops folder on your hard disk, under HD/Library/Audio/Apple Loops!

Don't blame GB - it makes sense not to present you the 4/4 loops in a 3/4 piece. If you still want to use them, you found a way around the filtering.
