Jan 6, 2013 11:38 PM in response to myabsleyby PAHU,For starters, do not waste your time and download the Canon Driver update that Eric Root has linked to. The CP900 is not included with that update.
With regards to the wireless connection, have you already connected the CP900 to your wireless access point? (also known as wireless router). Page 31 onwards to the CP900 Printer User Guide runs you through the required steps, which is performed via the buttons on the printer - no additional software is required.
Once you have the printer connected to your wireless access point you can then use the SELPHY Photo Print application, that you would have installed from the supplied CD, to print images.

Jan 16, 2013 3:30 PM in response to PAHUby Herbert,Similar problems here with Mountain Lion 10.8.2. I installed the new drivers from Canon, but big issues remain.
SELPHY Photo Print doesn't see my CP900 though it's turned on and connected to our network, and printing from iOS works just fine. I can't print wirelessly from any other application on my Mac either.
I am unable to add the printer via USB, I get an error saying '"Filter" failed. ???
I am out of my wits. Does anyone have suggestions how to resolve this?

Jan 16, 2013 6:57 PM in response to Herbertby PAHU,With regards to wireless printing, is the CP900 showing Infrastructure or Ad Hoc on its LCD? I ask because you can print from iOS in Ad Hoc mode but you need to have the CP900 connected to a wireless access point (router) for printing (known as Infrastructure).
As for USB printing, in testing just now, I printed an image in PNG format from Preview without any filter error. If you had any version of the CP900 driver installed on this Mac prior to installing the most recent v6.2 driver, then I would suggest you remove the printer from Print & Scan and then open Finder and navigate to HD > Library > Printers > Canon and trash the SELPHYCP folder. If you also have a CP folder at this location, trash it also. Then restart your Mac and after logging back in, install the v6.2 driver and see if this lets you add the printer and print.

Jan 17, 2013 5:56 AM in response to PAHUby Herbert,Thank you PAHU! I did these steps but wasn't successful in the end. The driver installs fine, I can add the printer without problems, but when printing it hangs for a minite and then I get an error that looks like this:
I start to wonder, are there any other files I should remove before a driver reinstall? I seem to recall in another post someone pointed into the hidden var/ directory, but I can't find that post anymore.
Thanks for helping!

Jan 17, 2013 1:15 PM in response to Herbertby PAHU,The cups folder exists in /var/spool/, but I've never had a need to change anything here. You may have read some users modifying files in /etc/cups/, but with the error you are getting I think it is more related to the Canon files rather than core files.
Could you open System Information (Applications > Utilities) and select Printers in the left sidebar. The right pane will show the CP900 information - you may need to select it from the top right pane if you have more than one printer installed. Can you select all of the CP900 information, copy and paste here so I can compare with what I have.

Jan 17, 2013 1:51 PM in response to Herbertby PAHU,Thanks for supplying that information. Your printer settings are the same as I have for the USB connected printer.
I can generate a similar error to what you are getting if I leave the paper size at Custom, which for some reason appears to be the default size the applications like Preview show when connected to the printer. If I change the page size to 4"x6", then it will print.
But this is the only way I can get a similar error. All other printing from Preview works okay for me. I will try a few more things to see if I can get it to error like yours and report back.

Jan 17, 2013 2:17 PM in response to Herbertby PAHU,With regards to the network printer, I don't think that you add it using one of the IP protocols. I added mine by selecting the Default view - not the IP view. The printer took a while to appear, but when it did it showed "cnybmscp" in the Kind column. I selected it and the USB menu automatically changed to Canon CP900.
So if you remove this printer you have created and select to add again and have the Default view selected, do you see the CP900? And if you do and you select it and then Add this printer, does this print without the same error as the USB connection?

Jan 17, 2013 2:50 PM in response to PAHUby Herbert,Ah, we're getting closer!
Intuitively I rebooted my router and after about one minute the CP900 showed up, so far so good! But when I tried printing I got this error:
I tried both 4x6 sizes available, one is 4x6 inches and the other one is 100mm x 148mm, both resulted in the same error.
So the good news is the printer is available on my network. Now it's a weird paper size issue.

Jan 17, 2013 3:14 PM in response to Herbertby PAHU,Excellent work. Now for the paper setting.
I can get that same error with the wrong size selected. And the application can impact the paper selection also.
With regards to the paper in the CP900, the cassette has the paper size written on it. The cassette in my CP900 shows "Postcard/100x148mm/4x6 inch/4R". You have to ensure that the paper cassette and the ink cassette match. If you have the Postcard ink cassette installed, you will have a capital P on the bottom left corner of the CP900 display.

Jan 17, 2013 3:31 PM in response to PAHUby Herbert,Outstanding PAHU, awesome! It worked!!!
I am quite sure I've tried this paper size before, but in the meantime I've also created a preset and a few custom paper sizes - who knows what finally did the trick, but hey, without your help I would have given up a while ago. So thank you for lending your expertise PAHU and for being patient with me!
