When I open some apps I get this box come up but not every time.  It is not always Firefox. Please can anyone help please?New-app.jpg

    This will always occur when an application is opened for the first time on a new computer or one where OS X has been newly restored or upgraded. It's simply an alert so you won't open software that may corrupt the computer or attempt to install a trojan. This is not an issue. It's for your protection.

    This "first open" you refer to is not the same one as it does not have the words "application" on it. The one  in the attachment appears intermittently on boot up. As you say when you open a new app for the first time a box appears the first time of opening. These apps have been open many times. Thank you for posting anyway.

    This is the answer to the problem. Copy and past this script into Terminal

    /System/Library/Frameworks/CoreServices.framework/Versions/A/Frameworks/LaunchServices.framework/Versions/A/Support/lsregister -kill -r -all local,system,user
