Can you buy AppleCare after you have purchased your device?

I believe that you have up to 30 days after purchase to get APple Care plus.

Since damage, which what that is classifed as, nullifes the warranty there is not much sense to getting Applecare now.

As I understand, physical inspection is needed for AppleCarePlus to ensure coverage is for new damage.

    As I have heard.

I believe so, but only a certain amount of time to do so.

As I understand, if you don't purchase the warranty with your device, it is contingent upon inspection....to avoid situations just like you are proposing, people only buying the warranty after the face.

Related to the original question. I was thinking of getting a macbook air as a present for a family member at best buy due to rewards and all that good stuff, but I dont want to buy the geek squad protection. I would assume that Apple would still sell Apple Care to the Air if it still in new condition even though I purchased it at a different retailer. Any one know for sure?

I bought my iPad at best buy then bought apple care from apple. No issues at all. You just have to register it within a few days of getting it.

Now if your item is eligible for apple care plus then htere may be extra steps to take since that warranty has 'accidental damage repair' I've heard that if you don't buy it with the device, your device has to be inspected to make sure you're not buying the warranty after you've damaged it.
