Welcome to the Apple Support Communities

Your computer needs DDR3 1333 MHz memory, and you can use 16 GB of RAM. You can buy the RAM in OWC or Crucial.

If you need help to install the RAM, follow the steps > http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4432#1

I'm not sure if you want more memory or a better memory speed. If you want to add more memory, read my first reply. If you want to increase the RAM speed, that's not possible because your Mac is only compatible with that memory and the 1333 MHz speed

The 2011 Mac mini has two memory slots. The memory type is PC3-10600 1333 Mhz DDR3 SO-DIMM. Your 2GB memory occupies both slots using 1GB modules.

Two upgrade your memory, you will need to remove those two 1GB memory modules. That is very simple to do on a 2011 Mac mini. A 4GB memory solution (two 2GB modules) costs $33. The 8GB solution (two 4GB modules) costs $62. This machine is expandable to 16GB memory. These are matched memory module kits with pricing current to this post date.

I took delivery of the same configured 2011 Mac mini. The first thing that I did was replace the 2GB with the above 8GB memory solution. This is inexpensive and the difference between 4GB and 8GB on this machine are very noticeable in daily usage and improved graphics performance. I would have regretted only a 4GB upgrade.

Memory is available at Macsales, or other sources.

Where can you get the modules for $62.00?  In the apple store it is $200.00 for two 4GB modules.
