Purchased music getting duplicated?

On my 4th generation iPod Touch, some of my music is acting funny.  Some of the purchases that I've made from iTunes (albums as well as singles) have duplicated themselves.  There are sometimes two separate, identical albums, or sometimes one album with songs duplicated in order (1, 1, 2, 2, 3, 3, 4, 4, 5, 5, 6, 6, etc.).  And when I play an album like that, some of the songs, I guess, are unplayable, because it will go from song #1 to #7 or #8, say, just sliding through, but not playing, songs #2-6.


This duplication and trouble are not present on my iPad, which I also sync to iTunes on my MacBook Pro, and they're not present in iTunes on the laptop.  I think it has also happened to one -- and only one -- album that I ripped from a CD, but all the other duplications seem to be iTunes purchases.


I was thinking of backing up the iPod, deleting all the music, and then restoring or syncing.  Does anyone have any other ideas or similar experience?

    Have you looked at the previous discussions listed on the right side of this page under the heading "More Like This"? Ones with a green checkmark are solved.
