I know when an iPhone is backed up, all the things are backup including contacts, settings, messages. Is there is a way to do a selective backup or a selective restore?

All data on the iPhone is not included with the backup. iTunes content is not included - music, movies, tv shows, ringtones, podcasts, and apps.

    The answer is no.

any 3rd party app will do this from me?

Actually issue is when I am restoring my backup, my facebook is not working due to some settings issue. That is the reason I only want to sync my contacts and mesages.

Allan, I saw your replies on a similar question thread to the questions that I had and wanted to ask you something in regards to switching to an iphone 5 ( w/ a new number) and using my old iphone 4 as an ipod......

I just bought an iPhone 5 (I did no SIM switch from old phone) & changed my phone number.

Before I got the idea to use my old iPhone (with deactivated #) as an iPod for running/lake trips so I dont ruin my new phone, I deleted the old iPhone device, serial # & cell number from my AppleID.

Can I still plug in the old deactived/deleted device into my itunes and add new music ?

Will there be any adverse effects? OR do I have to do a SIM card roulette??

Thank you for your time Apple Community!
