It's easy enough to "put back" a file from trash individually, but the moment one selects multiple files the "put back" option disappears? How does one put back multiple files in a single selection?

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.6.8)

Do you want to put files in to the trash, or take them out of the trash?

To put multiple files in to the trash, hold the command key and highlight the files you want to put in the trash and hold your trackpad down and drag them in to the trash can.

to remove files from the trash, doble click on the trash can, it will open, holding the command key select the files you wish to remove from the trash and drag and drop them on the desktop. They will come out as a single stack, holding the command key click the stack of files and un highlight them then you can drag them invidually.

    Hope this helps

I don't think this is possibe, and if you follow the suggestion to move them as a group to the Desktop, this will set the wrong ownership for any system owned files.

I can't believe it is not possible to put back in their original location files that are in the trash. With a PC, you simply select all the files, righ click and select restore. How come the same thing can't be done with a Mac ? This is ridiculous.
