Recently i've noticed how my retina MBP battery runs out quite fast, and I was wondering if running Lion would save more battery. Is that true?

MacBook Pro with Retina display, OS X Mountain Lion

    Probably not true.

How much memory do you have? If it's as little as 4 GB, adding more memory will enable your Mac to run more without paging to disk, which will save some battery resources.

Also, if your Mac came with Mountain Lion, it won't be able to run Lion anyway.

You can try to conserve battery charge by lowering the brightness of the display, setting the computer to sleep soon, or at least the display to sleep sooner, and selecting options in energy saver to save on battery usage.
