Am I being dumb? I open I books, go to library and get a dinky page with some leaders and various worthy free tombs. How do I get to to a book store with genuine best seller and normal books? It surely should be simple. Thanks for guidance;

    What country do you live in?  Some do not yet have paid books.

    In general, if you don't find what you want in the iBookstore, use another source which also has a free ereader for your device, like Kindle, Nook, Kobo, Googlebooks, or Sony.

    There is now a 'books' store/category in every country that has it's own iTunes store.

    Not every book is in every store.

    And in particular, there are over 100 which only have free books.

    Correct.

    Frankly, I'm surprised & happy Apple has gotten as far as they have w/books and distribution into various countries, given the hurdles involved. Has to be an uphill climb, I think, with the payoff coming in the long term.

    I recall at least one country that would confiscate certain printed books/magazines when an attempt was made to mail them in from the outside...it takes time and diligence to make changes, as usual I guess.

    Not reply to, this is da_tyme again, and yes, the answer lies in where I am (in the UAE) which doesn't support on line book sales it seems, at least unless they are free and a hundred years old. Thanks for all the contributions. Hopefully Apple and e commerce will penetrate eventually.
