I'm with you on this. Overall I like this version better although it took a little time to learn how to completely customize it. I do wish they kept the cover flow, that is one of the major reasons I liked iTunes, but I like that the color of the font changes based on the artwork of the album.

No your not alone, I hate it too. I also can't understand why iTunes has such issues with Windows 8... Typical sloppy programming BS...

R u kidding? up next is probably the best thing. I have about 3000 songs, so when I shuffle my songs, I just x the ones I know I don't wanna listen to, so I have this mini playlist of songs that I don't skip through.

I can not even begin to tell you how much i hate this thing.  And one of the reasons why I cannot begin to tell you why is LITERAL.  Everytime I do, I get deleted!!!!
I have begun a total of FIVE threads now that have been deleted.  Topics number 2, 3, 4, and 5 were all....I was  extremely precise & careful to be appropriate and just soooo I dont even know how to describe how lightly I treaded -  I was made sure to not get overly emotional but this is a huge deal.  I have years & years of everything on here!
You know how it goes I guess, if you've got a decade or so (cant think right this minute how many years) of apps, music, videos, movies etc. etc.) of data on your phone & itunes and you cant do JACK with it because every single solitary aspect of the daggone program is so amazingly screwed up, so gloriously just JACKED in every possible way as to be totally unrecognizably crud.
Well I guess I had better not waste my finger calories since everything I type here gets deleted.  I am shocked that there are other posts here criticizing The Holy One Blessed Be It.  I am sorry I brought myself to this forum, I hope I dont bring you all down with me.

this is how I feel about Itunes 11 and now Apple.  I used to think Apple is the best... I use Itunes to manage my library for over 8 years.  Itunes 11 came out and I wanted to slap the $#@$ out of whoever redesign it. So unbelieveable.  I tried to use Itunes 11 for a week. Got to know all of its features... still want to beat the you know what out of whoever design the thing.  Few features are nice but I just can't use it because the old features are not there anymore... I will never buy any Apple products again... Android here I come.

I like most of you have been using iTunes for years.  I was never a huge fan, but it did allow me to get music on iPhone, back it up, restore etc.  Now with iTunes 11, it is a constant hit or miss on all of those.  I completed a sync and now it won't do it again.  The errors/warning messages generated tell you NOTHING about how fix anything.  It has to be one of, if not the worst software app's I have had the displeasure to use.  I have to wonder if the outsourced/off shored this development?  Or is this the future of Apple without a visionary?  If it was my development team that produced this garbage, I'd fire them all.

    Hi

I have another question. when using the genius to play songs, how can I save the list of songs it plays to a playlist?

I really appreciate your knowledge in this.

    1. When you do a search in itunes 11, you cannot see songs with the search terms in the song title unless they contain the exact search term or the search term as the exact beginning letters of a word.  You used to be able to see all songs that had the search term as a part of another word or the search term with a symbol attached to it such as a parenthesis, which is VERY COMMON in electronic and pop music.  One example of this is Kid Cudi- Day n’ Night (Crookers Remix); I cannot find this song by searching “Crookers” in iTunes 11. I used to be able to, but since they “simplified” things I cant use the search function in this way.  This is because of the parenthesis attached. I used to be able to find this song by searching “Crookers”, “rookers”, “udi”, any sequence of letters that were in any of the metadata.  If I had this song listed as “Crooker’s Remix” and I searched using “Crookers” it wouldn’t come up but if I backspaced till it said “Crooker” it would. This is a great way of finding songs with minor flaws in their data, and making this impossible in iTunes 11 is a BIG MISTAKE!  Is there any way to get back the proper search functions or have they been “simplified” away forever? Do I really have to downgrade in order to have an application that works for a DJ with a lot of music?

I also hate it and find it incomprehensible to use.  I mainly use iTunes to download podcasts and transfer them to my iPod touch.  When I installed iTunes on my new computer and plugging in my iPod I get messages about updating my ipod or syncing and that it will remove some items, so I'm afraid to do it and don't know what it means.  I've found it impossible to just view items I've purchased or downloaded in my library and add them to a playlist on my iPod.  With older versions of iTunes, it was very intuitive.  This is totally incomprehensible. The prompts and messages are incomprehensible.

another user solved my problem- unchecking the "search entire library" box solved it-  not what i call intuitive tho..

Don't know if it helps with your 'search' problems but when I followed another user's suggestion and used CTRL-B and CTRL-S to get the user interface more like the old version, the search funtion seemed to be also more like the old one.  Especially if you choose the option to show 'xxx' in music or whatever.

I am a long time user of Apple products and I have to say that Apple has really screwed up iTunes.  They took something that was working well, was easy to learn and use and made it into a system that is extremely difficult to use.

No cover flow - can't see your playlists when looking at song lists .. the list goes on.  I am sure Apple likes this version because it is practically one big advertisement for the iTunes Store - however I will be reverting back to an earlier version ASAP.

Usually Apple has thought through their products more thoroughly and worked hard to maintain the products ease of use. In the past they were focused on the users experience when first handling the product and usually created something not only powerful, but innovative, intuitive and very practical in its functionality - sophisticated function - very easy to use ... I am completely flabbergasted by iTunes 11 in how it has not only failed to live up to these standards but also at the same time has completely obliterated the innovations of previous versions - if that was the goal Apple then well done indeed  ..but really all I can say is "What were you thinking?"

I hope the iTunes team is reading these posts so that maybe they will do something about it and offer a way to revert to a previous version.  What I find difficult is that I can't view my library and my iPod at the same time, in the same frames.  it used to be so easy to drag items from my library into my iPod.
