Q: I can't seem to add video in iBooks Author 2.0 no matter what I try, it instantly crashes?

I have been trying to learn how to use iBooks Author (2.0) using ML 10.8.2 but every time I try and load a small video it totally crashes. I've tried exporting the video clip through Quicktime into to several different formats same thing. Even when I try load the video through the media loader but as soon as I click on the movies tab it again crashes, this is driving me crazy!

Anyone have any ideas about this, I have talked to Apple and they suggested to re-install which I did same results though.

MacBook Pro (13-inch Mid 2009), OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.2)

Well depending on the different versions generated from quicktime export 4.5Mb to 17Mb, I'm only doing 1 video as I am just trying to learn the app and the different widgets. I also deleted the files in library/applicationsupport/caches and ibooks author plist files from preferences on the advice from Apple, but makes no difference. What I don't understand is when I try to import video clips from iTunes throught the media browser it again crashes. I've tried audio files and they seem to work just fine.

OK I solved my problem after doing some extensive research online, it seems that a app called 3ivx which is an extended mp4 decoding app I installed at one time was causing all the havoc. After carefully uninstalling and making sure all traces of files called 3ivx were removed from my harddrive I can now add movies to my iBooks Author! Yippee!!
