So today I was troubleshooting an issue with my Time Capsule not backing up when I discovered that I have two home screens on my account.  When I pan to the right it is showing another home screen with my dock and top bar but any open windows on the first home screen are not open on the second.  How does this happen and how do I fix it?  I know that it is not a huge deal when you are just working but now that I know that it is like that it is just bugging me.

That's normal. Multiple desktops is part of Mission Control in OS X Lion and Mountain Lion (10.7, 10.8). On you Dock, next to Finder you'll find the Mission control button. Click it and hover you pointer over the unwanted desktop and click on the litte 'x' that appears to remove the desktop. Move the pointer to the top right corner of Mission Control and you'll  see the option to add more desktops.
