I am trying to send a numbers speadsheet by email but send by mail is grayed out.  Any ideas why this is happening?  I have re named the doc to take out any "/" as I heard these were illeagal?  The file is going to another mac user who has numbers.

Any help would be apreciated.

    Hi,

In Numbers, Use the Share Menu and choose Numbers.

The "Send Via Mail" entry is not a menu item. It is a divider (or heading). Not very Mac-like!

Alterenatively, save your file and use Mail on the Dock to attach your file to an email.

    Hi Stephen,

The screen shot in my first reply was when I had an open document in Numbers. When I closed all Numbers documents (but Numbers was still open) my menu looked like this:

Is that what you are seeing? Numbers needs to know what document to send. Send via Mail will only send the active (open) document.

    I hope this helps.

    Ian.

you can always create a new mail document, then drag the Numbers document in the finder to the open mail document window.

Does this happen with just a new blank file?

Maybe there is another/different illegal character in the name? The feature appears to be working well for me.
