Hi,

 

iPhoto is crashing al the time at different actions. It quits immediate. After the crashes my Albums are empty, after repairing the database everything is fine till the next crash and it crashes on each usage.

 

MacBook Pro midle 2010

4 GB 1067 MHz DDR3

OS X 10.8.2 (12C60)

2 HDD

    Remember: we cannot see your machine. There are 9 different versions of iPhoto and they run on 8 different versions of the Operating System. The tricks and tips for dealing with issues vary depending on the version of iPhoto and the version of the OS.  So to get help you need to give as much information as you can. Basic things like :

     

     

    - What version of iPhoto.

    - What version of the Operating System.

    - Details. As full a description of the problem as you can. For instance: 'iPhoto won't export' is best explained by describing how you are trying to export, and so on.

    - History: Is this going on long? Has anything been installed or deleted?

    - Are there error messages?

    - What steps have you tried already to solve the issue.

    - Anything unusual about your set up? Or how you use iPhoto?

     

    Anything else you can think of that might help someone understand the problem you have.

    Hi,

     

    sorry iLife 11 iPhoto 9.4.2 (710.42) / MacBook Pro, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.2) But detaild info when it crashes a can't make. It happens on different actions.

    clicking on a Album, open preferences, add a Photo to an Album. The steps work after restart, so it is not reproducible. I have this problems also with other iLife Apps like iMovie. There is a crash log, i can post this the next occurrence. I removed iPhoto and reinstalled it from the CD, did not work also with no photos in the database.

    As a Test:

     

     

    Hold down the option (or alt) key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Create Library'

     

     

    Import a few pics into this new, blank library. Is the Problem repeated there?

    I did this allready and i had the same Problems. But now i switched of the Photostream and iPhoto did nor crash the last 30 minutes.

    Same here. Crashes after approx. 30 minutes of operation.

    Then restarts during 3 minutes or so.

    Always crashes during editing the photos,

    and using multiple actions (crop, saturation, brightness, contrast, masks, shadows, duplicate).

     

    After fresh restart of iPhoto, it works fine during several minutes, until

    some continious work is made, then it just crashes.

    Problems started after paid upgrade to Mountain Lion.

    Even cleaning iPhoto up (deleting the most of the images to free up the memory) didn't help.

    Previously it worked like a charm even full of photos (more than 50 000 photos collected during more than 1,5 years).

    Yes it shows kind of list of errors then offers to restart iPhoto.

    I have no idea how to solve it. The only actions taken were cleaning up the iPhoto images (photos).

    Nothing unusual or new in working with iPhoto.
