basically i first installed my ipod to my comp. today when i plugged it onto my laptop it said if i sync my settings it will erase everything and sync it with my laptop settings. so i wasnt sure if its just gonna delete my music or will it also delete my pics and apps. coz i only wanted to add music from my laptop onto my ipod
If you do not want to change syncing computers and only want to get music for the new computer see:
To sync to your iPod go to iTunes>Help>iTunes Help>Sync your iPod....>Sync You Device>Set up Syncing>Sync your device manually and follow the instructions
I had to go to my iPhone tab in Itunes, and then to the Summary sub-tab in order to find settings that mentioned manally managing music and videos. Maybe this is a later version of iTunes than the one that article talks about.
Anyway, when I put the check mark in "Manually manage music and videos" I get the warning about how this iPhone is synced with another iTunes library, and asks if I want to erase this iPhone and sync with this iTunes library. So this method doesn't look like it helps me any, because I was trying to prevent erasing my iPhone. I don;t have ANY songs on it yet, but I don;t want to erase all of my apps, etc.
Try following the insructions here for manually syncing.
