Q: Why wont my iPod touch 5g go into recovery mode?

I got locked out of my iPod touch 5g to the point where it says connect to iTunes. When I try to put it in iTunes it says the iPod needs to be unlocked. I looked online and it says put it in recovery mode. I hold down the power and home button then I hold down the home button. Then the iPod shuts back off. WHAT DO I DO???

Also I am currently not at my coputer so I use the iTunes on my cousin's

iPod touch, iOS 6.0.2

A:

When I restore it the iPod turns on in the middle of restoring to where the restoring process can not be completed. I guess im going to try DFU mode.

Are you following these instructions:
Recovery Mode
If recovery mode does not work try DFU mode.

Then I get an error code 3256. It will recover for a while then give me the error code. Is this because my laptop keeps going into standby mode or is it something else?

Maybe:
"Error 3000" through "3999"
Alerts with codes in the 3000 range generally mean that iTunes cannot contact the gs.apple.com server on ports 80 or 443. This may be because out-of-date or incorrectly configured security or firewall software is interfering, or due to your Internet proxy settings. If you are using a proxy, try removing the proxy settings, or using a known-good network. If that does not resolve the issue, follow iTunes for Windows: Troubleshooting security software issues.

Well im on a Mcbook Pro and but still in the middle of recovering this still happens. I got this iPod on Christmas, will it be too late to return it or send it back with the warranty?
