Hi all

As the title suggest I have an issue when renting movies. It doesn't happen every time I rent a movie but it happens often enough for it to be annoying (it has happened during the last two movies I have rented).

Basically what happens is that the movies begin as per normal - and it loads fairly quickly (ie the little white bar at the bottom of the screen fills up faster than the rate at which we watch the movie). However it gets to a point then stops loading. When the movie catches up to the point where the movie was downloaded playback stops and does not restart. Despite exiting from the movie, then going back into it, it says I have 180 hours to be able to begin playback (or some other absurdly large amount of time).

I then restart the ATV a few times, unplug it, restore it and then eventually (seemingly at random) it plays back as normal - but sometimes it doesn't and I have to watch the remainder of the movie the next day.

Note that this is not an internet speed issue as when it freezes I do a speedcheck to make sure and it always at around 18-20 mb/s.

Any ideas? Is it a setting I can change? Is it an itunes issue? Or is my ATV faulty?

Thanks for your help

Does this only happen for rentals.

often times your router could be the problem, but yet again it could be a defect with the apple tv, try restarting your network and or let it sit for a few minutes unplugged. My old router did the same when streaming though iTunes on my mac but fixed once I replaced my router. Always try to keep your ATV and your routers software up to date as well. If you do not know how, simply vist your routers website and search for possible updates, remeber the community fourms are always there if you don't find anything!

(P.S. try moving the router / Apple TV closer to each other!)

    Good Luck!
