Our house is completely wired for ethernet in virtually every room.  We have a home theater in the basement where a 1st generation airport express (AE)  is connected to an ethernet cable and to the stereo via the 3.5mm jack.  The 1st generation AE works well.  In the family room on the main floor we have a another small home theater system which we just added.  My goal was to add a new 2nd gen AE to connect for music streaming and also "extend" the wireless network.  Instead of a roaming network where both AE's are connected to each other, I thought we could simply connect the 2nd gen AE to the ethernet cable however this has not turned out to be the case.  When the airport utility is opened, only the 1st gen AE shows up, even after rescanning.

I would be grateful for any direction on this topic.  Help me Bob Timmons, you are our only hope!!!

Thank you...
