Yourco mputer and your iPad use different system software. Mac software will not run on an iPad and vice versa. You will need to purchase and dowload software specifically for the iPad. If I recall correctly, though, Garageband for iOS doesn't run on the original iPad. Check the App Store to be sure, though.
Thanks for the info & guidance. You were absolutely right on. There is a garage band for iPad, but it requires iOS 6.0 or later. My iPad is 5.1.1. Don't know if there's a way to upgrade that but doubt it. Got the iPad as a hand me down ( free), so can't cry too long. Was hoping I could use it to record clients during music therapy sessions...thanks again for your help
