The GPS on my iPhone 4S is not accurate. When I am home, both with wifi turned on and turned off, it shows my location anywhere from 1 or 2 houses away to a block away. I can't use any app that requires location services, including the built-in maps app for directions, because when I am in the car it shows me elsewhere. Even when I'm outside it does not show me in my exact location. Unfortunately, I do not know when this changed, but I do know that at least as of a year ago, it worked perfectly. I know this because of an app I use to track my skiing (AlpineReplay). It no longer sees me on any chair lifts and cannot use the data that I send to their server because of the faulty location. This worked last ski season.

I have read through several forums and tried multiple "fixes"...

  • reset network settings
  • calibrate compass
  • do a hard reset

The one thing I haven't tried, which I really don't want to unless necessary is doing a full restore, setting the phone up as a new device and starting over. But if this will definitely work, I will try it.
