I have moved from the UK to Australia. I just changed the billing details in my iTunes account to my Australian card & address. Now, when I go to 'purchased' in the iTunes store, not a single one of my iTunes purchases from the UK appears.

How do I recover these files? There should be hundreds of them.

Correct.  You can no longer access the U.K Store as you are no longer in the U.K

Did you fail to maintain a backup copy of your computer/apps/music/etc.?

Thanks. I have a backup, but I expected the store to make the connection between the UK me and the Australian me, as I am using the same login credentials.

    I am in same situation.

    i don't have backup

I purchased 100's of app -PAID from indian store.

More than the cost of IPAD 3G-64Gb.

I reset my ipad and configured free USA store.

How can i go back to indian store again.

I want my paid apps back.

Atleast Apple should link paid apps even if you change country.
